Meningococcal group B is the leading cause of bacterial meningitis and septicaemia in the UK. It is now part of the childhood immunisation programme, but many older children and adults were never offered it.

The vaccine is given as a course of two doses. It is commonly requested for students starting university and for older children who missed the routine programme.
