Hepatitis A is a liver infection spread through food and water contaminated with the virus. It is common across Africa, Asia, Central and South America and parts of Eastern Europe.
The first dose gives protection for about a year. A second dose six to twelve months later extends that to around 25 years, so it is worth completing the course even after you return.
