Fungal Nail Infection

If you're concerned about thickened, discoloured or brittle nails, book a private face-to-face consultation with one of our qualified Prescribing Pharmacists. We'll assess your symptoms, determine whether your nail changes are consistent with a fungal nail infection and recommend the most appropriate treatment to help restore healthy nails. During your consultation, we'll review your medical history, examine the affected nail(s) and discuss the most suitable treatment options. Where clinically appropriate, we can prescribe effective antifungal medication and provide advice to help prevent the infection from returning.

Fungal Nail Infection

Fungal nail infection is a common condition that can cause nails to become thickened, brittle, discoloured, or distorted. It usually affects the toenails but can also occur in fingernails.

The infection is caused by fungi that grow in warm, moist environments and may spread more easily in places such as swimming pools or communal changing areas. At our clinic, we provide assessment, advice, and treatment options to help manage fungal nail infections effectively.

Treatment may include antifungal creams, medicated nail solutions, or oral antifungal medication where appropriate. Early treatment can help prevent the infection from spreading and improve nail appearance.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. This is a face-to-face consultation in our private clinic room, and appointments are often available the same day.
Nails grow slowly. Toenails can take nine to twelve months to grow out fully, so improvement is gradual even when treatment is working.
That depends on how much of the nail is affected. Our pharmacist will examine the nail and recommend accordingly.
