An antifungal cream (or oral gel, depending on formulation) used to treat fungal skin infections, including athlete’s foot, ringworm, and — in oral gel form — oral thrush.
Benefits: Dual antifungal/antibacterial action against secondary bacterial infection in skin folds; suitable for adults and children (age restrictions apply to oral gel).
Side effects: Mild irritation or contact dermatitis at the application site. Miconazole oral gel can interact with warfarin and some other medicines — pharmacist advice should be sought.
