Lymecycline is a tetracycline antibiotic used to treat moderate to severe acne, and sometimes rosacea and perioral dermatitis. It works by reducing the bacteria involved in acne and calming the inflammation that causes red, painful spots.
It is taken once a day, usually for around three months, and works best alongside a topical treatment. Improvement is gradual, so expect little change in the first few weeks. It can increase sun sensitivity, so use sun protection. It is not suitable in pregnancy or for children under twelve, and our pharmacist will review your progress before any repeat course.
